About the Black Healthcare Awards

Since the NHS was founded in 1948, people of Black Caribbean and African heritage have been central to delivering its care. Yet for decades, no awards existed to specifically recognise their contribution.

The Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) set out to change that. Launched in 2024, the Black Healthcare Awards shine a spotlight exclusively on Black healthcare professionals of Caribbean and African heritage — celebrating the individuals across the UK who deliver exceptional care, break new ground and inspire the next generation.

Across three successful editions, the awards have grown into a highlight of the year — with the 2026 ceremony celebrating excellence across 20 categories. Backed by esteemed patrons, sponsors and judges, and with sold-out events drawing hundreds of guests, the awards bring our community together to honour its heroes and be seen.
